Course Structure and Duration
This 14-month course offers a blended approach, combining theoretical learning with practical application. You’ll dive deep into the anatomy and physiology of the human body, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the body functions. This foundation will enable you to effectively identify and treat trigger points, as well as diagnose muscle pain and discomfort. You will also study the science and theory behind each massage technique and develop a solid grasp of ethical practice, work health and safety, and professional client consultation skills.
Practical Learning Experience
Practical learning is a key component of this course, with 200 hours of Clinical Hours included. You’ll gain hands-on experience in our Remedial Massage student clinic on campus, where you’ll apply your knowledge under the guidance of our qualified trainers and assessors. During this time, you’ll explore a range of massage techniques, understand their effects on muscle nerves, and create individualised treatment plans for effective pain management.
On-Campus Learning and Networking
With 2 days of on-campus classes per week, you’ll have the opportunity to engage directly with your trainer and peers, enhancing your learning experience and deepening your understanding of the subject matter. You will have 24/7 access to the learning management system, allowing you to access your study materials and resources at your own pace, anytime and anywhere.
Additional Skills for Success
Beyond massage techniques, this course provides valuable knowledge in small business planning and marketing, equipping you with the skills to start and manage your own successful Remedial Massage Business.

Entry Requirements
- Students must meet the eligibility criteria to enrol in the Jobs & Skills WA Government-Subsidised Course.
- Mandatory to attend two-day face-to-face classes at our Perth CBD Campus.
TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined by either:
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate of education; or,
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate IV qualification (or above) that was delivered as a part of the AQF (Australian Qualification Framework), that can be verified by the issuing organisation or the USI (unique student identifier) transcript or,
- The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy. TrainSmart Australia must also reasonably believe that the student displays that competence.
If you are unable to provide either of these, you will need to complete a free Online Reading, Writing and Numeracy test to gain entry into our course.

- Assessments are by way of written assignments and have a practical component. To achieve this qualification, you will be required to complete a range of practical activities (simulation exercises) with our trainers and assessors
- TrainSmart Australia will give you advance notice so you can make necessary arrangements to ensure you are able to participate in these practical activities
